Anne Basco, Instructor/Owner

Anne is a Registered Yoga Teacher, holds an Associates Degree in Physical Therapy, and has 18 years experience teaching healing exercise in a variety of therapy settings including hospital acute care, outpatient, geriatric, acute rehabilitation, as well as family and health care provider education. These therapy experiences provided a variety of age groups, physical diseases, and conditions including but not exclusive to neurology, orthopedic, and cardiac conditions.Anne Basco Karuna Arts Yoga Old Burien WA

Anne gratefully acknowledges her inspiring and challenging teacher, Laura Yon-Brooks and each patient and client as a source of inspiration and learning without whom she could not be where she is today.

As a registered yoga instructor, Anne encourages a mindful, intelligent experience uniting breath, mind, and body with yoga. Anne feels yoga brings us back to balance and softens the intensity of the highs and lows life throws our direction.

Rajani Susan Reanier

Rajani Susan Reanier has studied classical yoga with Baba Hari Dass since 1980 and earned her yoga teacher certification from Mount Madonna Center in 1999. She is an RYT, registered yoga teacher with the national Yoga Alliance.

She has studied hatha yoga in the Iyengar tradition and Anusara style with a variety of teachers, and is currently pursuing certification as an Anusara yoga instructor.

As a wife, mother, and professional educator, she values yoga in her personal and professional life for the discipline, balance, and peace it offers. Her aim in teaching is to invite students to experience their inner wisdom and brilliance, to enjoy movement, and to find peace.

Stacy Lawson

Stacy Lawson, MA began her study of yoga in 1988. Seventeen years and two kids later, she is still practicing and teaching yoga with an emphasis on fitting the practice to the student. Stacy Lawson Karuna Arts Yoga Old Burien WA

Stacy combines her extensive experience with asana, pranayama, Sutra study, and meditation to help students develop strength and resilience for daily life. In addition to her broad yoga training, Stacy has her MA in Adult Education and is adept at creating learning environments where change really happens.

Currently she teaches group, private sessions, and teacher training throughout Seattle.

Jackie Randall, RYT

Jacky is living proof that everyone can change their lives. For over 25 years, she worked in Washington, D.C. as a lobbyist, policy analyst and environmental health expert, keeping her sanity with yoga on video, quilting and remodeling an 1863 townhouse. She plotted her escape for years, and finally made the break for Seattle in 1987.

A budding textile artisan, she teaches in the tradition of Sri Krishnamacharya and has no more plans for escape. Jacky has been teaching in the Seattle area since 2005.

Colleen Hart, N.D.

Colleen is a Naturopathic Doctor in private practice in Burien and also at Federal Way Naturopathy.  HerColleen Hart, N.D. Karuna Arts Yoga Old Burien WA Doctorate degree is from Bastyr University, now located in Kenmore, WA. Her undergraduate degree is from Evergreen State College, a BA in Human Health and behavior. She has been a family practice doctor since 1992 with a specialty in craniosacral therapy.

She has practiced T'ai Chi Ch'uan Yang style, short form since 1976, studying with Tricia Yu in Madison, Wisconsin, and Benjamin Lo in San Francisco, California. She has thirteen years of teaching experience. She loves introducing the ancient Chinese movement art into people's lives.

Colleen's perspective on all her work is to see people as unique beings with individual requirements to be healthy. She utilizes natures remedies, tai chi, and craniosacral therapy to institute positive health habits. She enjoys working with people of all ages.

Joyce E. Vopni, RYT

Joyce is a graduate of the 15-month Yoga Study Program at Karuna Arts Yoga. A certified Medicinal Herbalist, she brings years of Ayurvedic training and dosha study to her practice and teaching. Trained and mentored by K. P. Khalsa, AHG and Chanchal Cabrera, MNIMH, AHG, she has also earned certificates of Herbal Studies with Christopher Hobbs L.Ac. at Bastyr University. For years Joyce taught in the Herbal Medicine Programs at Bellevue, Olympia, Tacoma and Highline Community Colleges. It was during her Ayurvedic studies the she developed an interest yoga and especially its effects on balancing the systems of the body.

Roger Schert

Roger began Yoga with the asana’s taught by the Transcendental Mediation teachers in the 1970’s. He has been on a spiritual quest since then and has learned several varieties of energy healing, shamanism, meditation, and karate. He joined Normandy Park Yoga’s Instructor Training Program in 2006. He has been a Reiki Master since 1995. He is a Celtic Shamanic practitioner and is passionate about helping people reach their highest potential. He understands that the greatest human potential occurs when the body, mind and soul are treated in a compassionate and holistic manner.

 

Renee Klein, RTY

After years of exploring various exercise and fitness regimens, Renee Klein began practicing yoga in 2000. She has taken classes and workshops in several yoga traditions, yet teaches in the viniyoga lineage because of the tremendous benefits it offersRenee Klein Karuna Arts Yoga Old Burien WA everybody and every body.

Under the wise and compassionate instruction of her teacher Anne Basco, Renee’s yoga journey has blossomed into a lifestyle with much greater physical, emotional and spiritual balance.

Renee believes yoga offers something for everyone: “You may come to yoga, like I did, for physical strength and flexibility; you may find that you stay with yoga for many wonderful reasons beyond that.”  Outside of the yoga studio, Renee is a communications and marketing consultant who works with leading businesses and nonprofit organizations.

 

 
 

Mem Rippey

Mem Rippey has been practicing yoga for nine years and providing instruction for three years. She is a registered yoga teacher in the Hatha Gaya style which focuses on adapting and individualizing the yoga practice to meet the physical and mental needs of students. Her students find her respectful, calm and creative.

Mem has experience working with the full age spectrum from early primary age to elders. She comes to yoga with a background in education, having been a primary level classroom teacher for eleven years with a Masters of Education Degree.
